Is the light really warm white, or is it purple like other grow lights?
It is truly warm white at 3000K. We designed the Solvind to be beautiful to live with. Unlike older "blurple" grow lights that cast an unnatural pinkish-purple glow, our full spectrum LED produces a warm, natural light that looks great in any room. Your plants get the full spectrum they need, and your eyes get a color they love.
Does this light provide enough intensity for my plants to really grow?
Absolutely. This is 40 watts of serious power. With 4000 lumens and a PPF of 60 μmol/s delivered through a focused 60° beam angle, the Solvind provides the intensity needed for healthy growth, strong stems, and vibrant leaves. It is ideal for tropical foliage plants, herbs, succulents, and flowering plants.
How do I hang this light? Do I need an electrician?
No electrician needed. You can install it in minutes. The Solvind comes with a swag hook that screws easily into your ceiling or beam. Simply install the hook, hang the light, plug the 15-foot fabric cord into any standard 120V outlet, and use the included fairleads to organize the cord neatly along your wall or ceiling.
What is the timer, and how does it work?
The timer automates your light schedule so you don't have to think about it. It is a 24-hour mechanical outlet timer. You plug the Solvind into the timer, then plug the timer into the wall. You set the dial to the time you want the light to turn on and off, and it repeats that cycle every single day automatically.
Is the light dimmable?
The Solvind itself is not dimmable. However, the included 40W output is optimized to provide the perfect intensity for most indoor plants at a standard hanging height. For light sensitivity adjustments, you can raise or lower the pendant to increase or decrease the intensity reaching your plants.
How far above my plants should I hang the light?
We recommend hanging the light 12 to 24 inches above your plants. For plants with higher light requirements or during the darker winter months, hang it closer (around 12 inches). For lower light plants or if you prefer a softer, more ambient spread of light, hang it higher (around 18-24 inches).
Can I use this light in a room with high ceilings?
Yes, the 15-foot fabric cord gives you plenty of length to work with. For very high ceilings, you can let the cord hang down to reach the desired height above your plants. The included fairleads also help you manage any excess cord length neatly along the wall or ceiling.
Will this light cause my plants to get too hot or burn?
No, the Solvind runs cool and is safe for close placement. LED technology produces very little heat compared to old fluorescent or HID lights. The aluminum housing acts as a heat sink, keeping the fixture cool to the touch. As long as you maintain a reasonable distance (at least 6-12 inches), your plants will not burn.
What types of plants is this light best for?
The Solvind is excellent for a wide variety of indoor plants. It works beautifully for:
