What is a full-spectrum LED grow light?
Full-spectrum LED grow lights emit a range of light wavelengths that cover what plants need for photosynthesis and healthy growth. They include the blue wavelengths plants use during leafy growth and the red wavelengths they use when flowering or fruiting. Unlike a standard bulb, a grow light is designed specifically around what plants respond to.
Do your grow lights actually work for indoor plants?
Yes. Our grow lights provide light across the spectrum that supports plant photosynthesis. Plants kept in low-light environments often benefit significantly from supplemental grow lighting. That said, results vary depending on the plant species, how much natural light is already available, placement, and how long you run the light each day. We don't make guarantees about specific growth rates because plant growth depends on many factors beyond just lighting.
What plants can I use them on?
Our grow lights work well with a wide variety of indoor plants, including houseplants like pothos, monsteras, fiddle leaf figs, and snake plants, as well as herbs like basil, parsley, and mint, and some fruiting plants like chilli peppers and strawberries. Different plants have different light requirements, and we recommend checking individual light intensity levels and placement distances on each product page.
How long should I run the grow light each day?
Most indoor plants do well with 12 to 16 hours of light per day. Plants still need a dark period, so we recommend switching the light off overnight. If your light has a timer function, use it. Consistent cycles are better than sporadic long sessions.
How close should the light be to my plants?
This varies by product and by plant sensitivity. The guidance for each of our lights is included on the product page. As a starting point, most floor and pendant grow lights work well positioned 30 to 60cm above the plant canopy, but some high-output lights like the SolDome Max should be placed further away. Start at a greater distance and bring it closer gradually while watching for any signs of stress such as leaf curl or bleaching.
Can I use the light for seedlings or propagation?
Yes, grow lights can support seedlings and cuttings. Seedlings tend to need less intense light than mature plants, so start with the light a bit higher up or run it for shorter periods until they establish.
Will the light harm my eyes?
Most of our grow lights are designed with home use in mind, not commercial grow rooms, so they are not as intense as horticultural-grade fixtures. That said, avoid staring directly into any grow light when it is on. If your light emits a strong blue-white output, basic precaution like not looking straight at it is sensible.
My grow light isn't turning on. What should I check?
First, check the power connection and make sure the outlet is working. If the light has a timer or touch dimmer, check those settings. If you still have an issue after trying a different outlet and checking all connections, contact us atinfo@hydroplantco.comwith your order number and we will help diagnose the problem.
Which grow light should I buy?
It depends on your setup. Here's a rough guide:
If you have one large floor plant like a fiddle leaf fig or monstera, a floor-standing light like the LumiTower Pro, LumiTripod, or SolStem works well. If you want to cover a shelf or a cluster of smaller plants, a pendant or adjustable option like the VireoSol or HelioBeam gives you more flexibility. If you have a large collection or want to grow herbs and edibles, the SolDome Max is our most powerful option. Check the product pages for specific coverage area and output details.
Smart Gardens
What is a hydroponic garden?
A hydroponic garden grows plants in water and nutrients rather than soil. The roots sit in a growing medium like small net pots or foam pods, and a water reservoir below feeds them. Plants often grow quickly in these systems because nutrients are delivered directly to the roots.
Do I need experience to use a smart garden?
No. Our smart gardens like the VerdeOS and AuraGrove are designed to be beginner-friendly. They come with everything you need to get started and have built-in lighting and water level indicators so you are not guessing.
What can I grow in a smart garden?
Herbs like basil, mint, coriander, and parsley do very well. Leafy greens like lettuce and rocket are also popular. Some customers grow chilli peppers, cherry tomatoes, and strawberries with good results, though larger fruiting plants take more effort and longer timelines. We recommend starting with herbs or salad leaves while you get comfortable with the system.
How often do I need to refill the water?
This depends on the number and size of your plants and how warm your environment is. On average, most users top up their reservoir every 5 to 14 days. The systems have a water level indicator so you will know when it needs attention rather than having to guess.
Do I need special nutrients?
Yes, hydroponic plants need liquid nutrients added to the water because there is no soil to provide them. We recommend a standard hydroponic nutrient solution appropriate for the type of plants you are growing. Follow the dosage on the packaging and do not over-feed, as this can harm plants.
Can I grow plants from seed?
Yes. We sell seed pod kits that are compatible with our smart garden systems. You can also buy standard hydroponic seeds from most garden suppliers. Some seed types take longer to germinate than others, so patience is key in the first couple of weeks.
Orders and Payments
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept Visa, Mastercard, Maestro, American Express, Discover, Diners Club, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Shop Pay.
Can I use my discount code at checkout?
Yes. Enter your code in the discount field at checkout before placing the order. Discount codes cannot be applied after an order has been placed and cannot be combined with other codes unless stated.
My discount code isn't working. What do I do?
Check that the code is entered exactly as given, including any capitalisation. Some codes have expiry dates or minimum spend requirements. If the code is valid and still not working, contact us at info@hydroplantco.com.
Can I change or cancel my order?
If your order has not yet shipped, we may be able to cancel or amend it. Contact us at info@hydroplantco.com as soon as possible with your order number. Once an order has shipped it cannot be cancelled, but you can return it within 30 days of delivery.
I placed an order but did not receive a confirmation email.
Check your spam or junk folder first. If there's nothing there, it's possible the email address was entered incorrectly at checkout. Contact us at info@hydroplantco.com with your name and approximate order date and we will look into it.

My order says delivered but I haven't received it.
Check around your property and with any neighbours who may have accepted it. Some carriers leave items with a neighbour or in a safe place and include a card. If you genuinely cannot locate the parcel, contact us at info@hydroplantco.com with your order number and we will investigate with the carrier.
Returns and Refunds
What is your return policy?
We accept returns within 30 days of delivery. Items must be unused, in their original condition, and returned in original packaging with all components included. Please do not send anything back without contacting us first for return authorisation.

I bought this as a gift. Can it be returned?
Yes, the same 30-day policy applies. The refund will go to the original payment method. If you received it as a gift, you will need the order number from the gift giver to initiate the return.
Plant Care
My plants don't seem to be growing. What could be wrong?
There are several common reasons. The light may be too far away or not running long enough each day. The plant may need watering or, for hydroponic systems, the nutrient solution may need topping up or replacing. Some plants also go through a slow establishment phase before showing visible growth. Check placement, schedule, and water first.
Can grow lights replace sunlight entirely?
Grow lights can supplement or replace natural sunlight for many common houseplants and herbs. They provide the key wavelengths plants use for photosynthesis. However, plants that require very high levels of direct sun outdoors, such as citrus trees or full-sun vegetables, may not thrive on grow lighting alone in a typical indoor setting.
Is it safe to use grow lights around pets and children?
Our grow lights are designed for safe home use. Keep cables tidy and out of reach of pets and small children, and ensure any floor-standing units are stable. As with any electrical product, do not leave them in situations where they could be knocked into water.
Do grow lights use a lot of electricity?
Our LED grow lights are designed to be energy efficient compared to older fluorescent or HID grow lighting. The exact running cost depends on the wattage of the specific model and how long it runs each day. Wattage is listed on each product page so you can calculate running costs based on your local electricity rate.
